John Denver, a singer-songwriter from Colorado that specialized in folk music, touched the hearts of millions. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a Mexican-born artist and songwriter who fell in love with Colorado. More than a few people beat a path to Colorado following the Denver's cult anthems to his adopted state. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame states that John Denver is unlike any other artist who embodies Colorado. Denver was the very first Hall of Fame inductee in the year 2011. Denver is today Colorado's international image. If you travel with me, you will meet people on the other side of the world. Like, for instance, people from New Zealand. And when you tell them you're originally from Colorado you will get "Oh John Denver!" Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads is Denver's only Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist following his time within small Folk Music groups. The track was written by Bill Danoff. Danoff had originally written the tune using Johnny Cash's songs in mind, but Denver knew from the first time he heard the early versions that the song would be a big popular. Just a few days after the performance to a throng of fans in Washington D.C., the performer recorded the track.
